After moving from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Dr. Christie Newton took on the position of Director of the UBC Family Practice Teaching Unit. Originally a discipline specific training site, the UBC Health Clinic is now an interprofessional community based teaching practice focused on developing and evaluating models of collaborative practice.

Dr. Newton is the Director of the Division of Professional Development for the College of Health Disciplines at UBC and in this position is working with a committee on the design and implementation of a provincial interprofessional, professional development program. She is also the current Director for the Department of Family Practice’s Continuing Professional Development and Community Engagement activities. Some of Dr. Newton’s other interprofessional activities include: allied health representative on the College of Registered Nurses of BC Education Program Review Committee, Chair of the UBC Health Care Team Challenge Planning Committee, and interdisciplinary representative of the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority Primary Care Council.
