Jane Buxton


Jane Buxton is a public health physician and professor in the UBC School of Population and Public Health.  She is the medical lead for harm reduction at the BC Centre for Disease Control where in 2011 she developed the inter-sectoral Drug Overdose and Alert Partnership (DOAP) to identify and respond to provincial issues related to illegal drugs.  In 2012, she lead the BC Take Home Naloxone program implementation – which has shipped more than 950,000 kits across the province and introduced an annual harm reduction client survey.  Janes uses quanititative and qualitative approaches in her research and is committed to including the authentic voices of people lived/living experience of substance use – in developing policy, program planning, research and evaluation.
